In 2021, Panerai unveiled a new 42mm Submersible with a fresh take on design from Panerai’s LAB-ID. Following the success of the PAM01314 last year, the PAM01223 also has a white dial and gives a modern spin on the Submersible range.
In a brushed stainless steel 42mm case, the design is sleek and refined, with curved lugs to naturally shape around the wrist. The Submersible also has a brushed steel anti-clockwise rotating bezel with graduated scale. It has a closed screw caseback with a 300m Water resistance. The PAM1223 is considered to be a successful release in terms of popularity, as it has a standout, novel and modern design that many watch enthusiasts, Paneristi or not, have come to admire. Furthermore, the 42mm is a suitable size for many that struggle to wear a 47mm Panerai due to their smaller wrist size.
The dial is a white matte colour with a purely black and white colour-scheme. The dial has white circular indexes with black rims that have super-luminova. It gives the watch great legibility during the day and night. The neutral colours and sleek case makes this PAM01223 suitable to wear for pretty much any occasion.
The P.900 is a self-winding movement that’s only 4.2mm thick. It contains a power reserve of 3 days, small seconds and a date function. This OP movement is a shared calibre within Richemont and is also in the Baume & Mercier Clifton Baumatic. Further specs include 12 ½ lignes, 23 jewels, 28,800 alternations/hour and the Incabloc® anti-shock device.
The PAM01223 is priced at £7,800 RRP and a brand-new example has recently been added to Wiseman’s stock for much less!
