In 2005, Officine Panerai unveiled three Special Editions made exclusively for the Florence Boutique in commeration of its 100th anniversary: The PAM224, PAM228 and the PAM229. Each model had a limited production of 100 units.
The PAM224 is a Luminor Chrono, the PAM229 is a Luminor Marina Automatic (similar to the 104), and the PAM228 is the GMT Firenze. The first 10 models (001-010/100) were sold in a trio (PAM00781), and individually thereafter.
The Panerai from this trio we will be focusing on is the PAM228, the GMT Firenze.
This model has a brushed stainless steel 44mm Bettarini case and a polished steel bezel & crown guard. A slightly cambered sapphire crystal sits on the face of the glorious blue sunburst dial, with an anti-reflective coating and a magnified date window at the 3 o’clock position. The small-seconds subdial brings a nice balance to the dial.
Around the circumference of the dial are the 24-hour markers alternating between lines and Arabic characters for the GMT arrow-head hand to point to. Within them, are the hour markers and minute indicators in five-minute intervals. All the numbers are in a highly legible font that can be read easily from a distance or in limited light with the help of some luminescent fill.
Accompanied with a dark blue alligator leather strap, the standard Panerai outer black box, papers, rubber strap & tool, the major difference is that the PAM228 comes with a funky special edition dark blue Panerai presentation box.
This PAM228 is available for sale on our website. It is in excellent condition considering its age and comes accompanied with all original box & papers, and a 24 month Richemont warranty. Click the image below to view the listing!
