For sale is the Omega Speedmaster "Ed White", reference 105.003 from 1965. In a 39mm steel case, this model features a DON (Dot Over Ninety) faded bezel inset, domed acrylic crystal and chronograph dial. The dial features tritium markers, T-Swiss Made-T at the 6pm and the applied Omega motif below the 12pm.
The Omega 105.003 gained fame when Lt. Col. Edward White wore it over his astronaut suit during his historic extravehicular spacewalk (EVA) on June 3, 1965. On that day, during the Gemini IV mission, White became the first American astronaut to perform a spacewalk. This event occurred just three months after Omega was officially certified for use in NASA's space program.
It's powered by the Omega calibre 321, a very famous manually wound movement with 17 jewels, beating at 18,000 beats per hour. It features the column wheel chronograph based on the Lemania 2310.
